Qualifications/Experience
Have a degree level qualification or equivalent experience in one or more of the following fields:
- Health or Social Care services
- Education
- Quality assurance
- Corporate governance
- Equal opportunities
- Patient advocacy
- Consumer affairs
- Recruitment and selection
Personal skills and attributes
- Have the ability to understand patient, carer and trainee concerns
- Put views across clearly, constructively and sensitively
- Be able to look at a situation from a variety of viewpoints and be objective
- Be a good communicator and put forward opinions succinctly; orally and in writing
- Demonstrate team working skills and take an active part in meetings
- Demonstrate tact, discretion and maintain confidentiality
- Be able to interpret (sometimes complex) information and make reasoned judgements
- Good negotiating and problem solving skills with the ability to influence opinions
- Able to travel to the sites involved in the delivery of PPME training programmes
- Able to engage with individuals at all levels, and build effective working relationships
- Able to take legible notes and to complete relevant documentation
- Understanding of equality and diversity legislation and equal opportunities issues and a commitment to applying these principles to all aspects of the role
- Motivation to help improve the quality of postgraduate medical education and training

Have experience in at least one of the following
- A leadership role
- Board or senior executive level role in a large complex private, public or voluntary sector organisation
- Risk, governance or quality management
- The voluntary sector
- Community services
- Best practice assessment and appraisal procedures
- A similar role such as Non-Executive Board member, school governor, patient / service user advocate
Have knowledge of at least one of the following:
- Local and national health service strategy, policy development and implementation
- Local health commissioning
- Commissioning and budget management
- Public health
- Postgraduate Medical Education and Training structures and governance arrangements
