Healthcare regulation post Francis: the Care Quality Commission, Patient Care and Quality and Safety

Category: Foundation - General

Date: June 11th 2013

Location: Central London

Westminster Health Forum Keynote Seminar

This seminar will focus on the key issues surrounding quality and safety in the reformed NHS following the publication of the Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust Public Inquiry and the initial Government response, which has set out new measures for a ‘culture of compassion’.

Delegates will discuss the future shape and role of regulation and what more can be done to improve patient safety, as well as the CQC’s strategy Raising standards, putting people first - which sets out priorities for the next three years. They will also consider the impact of integrating health and social care on quality and safety, and the role of new commissioning bodies and Foundation Trusts in safeguarding patient care.

The meeting will bring key policymakers from Government and Parliament together with senior stakeholders representing those working in the NHS and more widely in health and social care, businesses and their advisors, service users, leading academics and commentators, and other interested parties.

The draft agenda is available to view online here. The seminar is organised on the basis of strict impartiality by the Westminster Health Forum.
