Overview:

This exciting course is aimed at Consultants SAS doctors from all disciplines. This full day course will explore patient safety and human factors covering advanced domains within the new Patient Safety Syllabus.  This is a highly interactive course and requires no prior knowledge of safety science, human factors and non-technical skills.

Content:

  1. Error in medicine and how to approach it
  2. Introduction to PSIRF and the new safety framework
  3. How to make an incident (SI) investigation worthwhile and effect change
  4. Fundamentals of human factors and systems thinking
  5. System I and System II learning
  6. Importance of culture and our responsibilities in establishing and maintaining
  7. Supporting trainees by understanding a model for error and implementation of HF methodologies

Audience:

Associate Dean Secondary Care, Associate DME, College/Specialty Tutor, Deputy Dean, DME, Educational/Clinical Supervisor Secondary Care, Dental Educational/Clinical Supervisor, HoS, SAS Doctor (Associate Specialist, Specialist, Speciality Doctor, Staff Grade, Tutor), TPD Secondary Care or Public Health Supervisor.
