Aim
Enable Educational Supervisors to supervise trainees in Quality Improvement (QI), supporting ideas and projects in their own Trusts and Local Education Providers with successful outcome.
At the end of the session participants will
1. Be familiar with all important documents steering this work and the time-line
2. Have evidence of why this will impact on doctors, patients, society
3. Understand the fundamentals of
- How QI differs from audit
- How time ordered measurement enables learning
- Human factors and safe design using structured means
4. Have a check list of what common barriers there are and explore strategies to overcome them individually or together
5. Use QI methods to build shared objective and share means to achieve it
6. Though adding these items to the map designed in the previous session each supervisor should be able to
- Articulate why and what needs to happen
- Be confident they can source support inside and outside their organisation
- Aim to meet with all or any QI champions in their organisation
- Aim to be able to appoint trainees to existing or new achievable QI by end of 2018
- Have sponsorship and support from their senior leaders locally for this work and to start to build it into consultant appraisal
