HEE (SW) Simulation Network

An overview

Our mission statement: To implement Simulation-Based Education in order to improve healthcare outcomes across the South West.

The HEE South West Simulation Network is a multi-disciplinary community of practitioners from all healthcare professions, all of whom are involved in simulation-based education in the South West region. We have members from all healthcare and educational settings, including Universities, hospitals, mental health trusts, community organisations, pre-hospital and ambulance trusts and primary care.

We have produced guidelines for organisations that deliver simulation-based education, and have designed a one-day train the trainers course that can be delivered locally to increase the number of trained simulation faculty in an organisation. We can give all South West healthcare staff access to iRIS, a web-based tool for creating and sharing simulation content and a library of hundreds of shared resources to help you to deliver sessions without having to re-invent the wheel.

We fund projects across the South West which aim to improve patient safety using simulation-based education and we hold regular meetings where we get together to share best practice and discuss our progress. Once per year we host a celebratory Simulation, Human Factors and Patient Safety Conference where we can display the projects that we are funding and the great work that is being done across the region.

If you would like to get involved, please contact – we would love to see you at our next meeting.
