NHS England Southwest (NHSE-SW) and the Postgraduate Medical Education Office is delighted to announce a training secondment fellowship opportunity to work with the Well and Resilient Doctors (WARD) Director.  

 

The following fellowship offers a unique opportunity to work alongside the WARD director to improve the wellbeing of Postgraduate Doctors in Training across the South West region.

The knowledge and skills acquired through this post will also provide leadership experience to a successful doctor in training.

It is anticipated that at the end of the tenure, the fellow will be well placed in the future to lead, to promote and disseminate support to others.

 

Applicants must be a GMC registered doctor from higher specialty programmes (ST3 and above) working within the geographical responsibility of the South West (Severn/ Peninsula) Postgraduate Medical Education Office training programmes.

 

The WARD fellow post is a 12-month secondment. To start 3 months from the date of interview or dependent on successful negotiations with the employer (Rota Coordinator) and approval from their Training Programme Director.

The Postgraduate Doctors in Training will return to the training programme at the end of their secondment, assuming satisfactory ARCP progression.

 

 It is anticipated that the successful post-holder will spend 2 days (0.4 WTE) on agreed objectives with the WARD Director supporting the WARD strategy.

 

The appointed Postgraduate Doctor in Training may be supported in working towards a postgraduate qualification (PG Cert) in Medical Education in Healthcare Leadership and Management at either Exeter or Plymouth University.

 

Selection will be by a Postgraduate Medical Education Office interview process.

 

Closing date – 06/02/2024

Interview – Monday 26 February 2024. You will be expected to make a five-minute presentation, the topic of which will be confirmed further to shortlisting.
